Every way to get from Budapest Airport to the city.

How it works

1

Walk-up (Főtaxi)

Exit arrivals and head to the yellow Főtaxi rank. A dispatcher hands you a voucher with the fare estimate. Takes 3–5 minutes during the day, longer late at night.

2

App-based (Bolt / Uber)

Open the app once you land, follow airport signs to the designated ride-hailing pickup zone. Wait time varies — usually 5–15 minutes.

3

Pre-booked (Pickup Hungary)

Book online ahead of time with your flight number. The driver waits in arrivals with a name sign and tracks delays automatically.

4

Public transport alternative

Bus 100E runs direct to Deák Ferenc tér for a few hundred forints — cheapest option but no luggage help and not 24/7.

Frequently asked questions

How much is a taxi from Budapest Airport to the city centre?

Regulated Főtaxi fares are typically around 9,000–11,000 HUF (~€23–28) depending on destination. Bolt and Uber show upfront prices in the app. Pickup Hungary offers fixed-rate pre-booking.

Are unofficial taxis at BUD safe?

Only use the Főtaxi rank, a pre-booked transfer, or a licensed ride-hailing app. Ignore anyone approaching you inside the terminal offering a ride.

Can I pay by card?

Yes with all four options. Főtaxi accepts card and cash; Bolt and Uber are app-only; Pickup Hungary accepts card, cash, or corporate invoice.

Which option is best for families with children?

Pre-booked transfers (Pickup Hungary) are the safest bet — you can request child seats in advance and the driver meets you inside arrivals.
